Funding - Arts Council England Announces Emergency Measures and Funding

The Arts Council has announced a £160 million emergency response package to support individuals and organisations across the culture sector in response to the Covid-19 crisis.

The Arts Council has worked quickly to produce the following emergency response package, with the reallocation of National Lottery Project Grants, Developing Your Creative Practice and our Development Funds for the 2020-21 period. The Arts Council says that in doing so, it has used up almost all of its reserves.

The new investment is as follows:

· £90 million will be available for National Portfolio Organisations (NPOs) to help reboot their creative work and alleviate financial pressures.

· £50 million will be available for organisations outside of the National Portfolio that have a track record in publicly funded culture. Grants of £35,000 will support them to get back on their feet or to continue making work in the future that will mean they can contribute to delivering the Arts Council's new strategy, Let's Create. Guidance and the timetable will be available on 30 March 2020.Potential applicants will need to register for Grantium by 3 April 2020.

· £20 million will be available to creative practitioners and cultural workers so they can better sustain themselves, and their work, in the months ahead.

The Arts Council is currently working through the details of eligibility and guidance for the funds and will provide further details once it has completed work on the funding streams.

Applicants to all funding programmes can expect to hear directly from the Arts Council. Further information on the funds can be found on the Arts Council England website:
