Funding - First Wave of London Community Response Fund Launches
The first wave of the more than £5 million fund is now accepting applications from charities across London to support food and essentials only.
The new London Community Response Fund is coordinated by London Funders, a cross-sector membership network for funders and investors in London’s civil society. The aim of the Fund is to provide one single application point for groups in London that are in need of funding to support local communities affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The first wave of funding is providing grants of up to £5,000 with a focus on addressing urgent needs, so that organisations can cover costs that they are incurring right now to support communities affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and the move to social distancing. The funding can be used to cover food and essential items such as mobile phones and data, and cleaning products. It cannot, however, be used for staff costs or laptops.
The funding is for activities that are legally charitable and take place in/or benefit people living in London or one of the 33 local authority areas.
Applications will be considered from registered charities, registered Community Interest Companies, registered Charitable Incorporated Organisations and charitable companies limited by guarantee.
A second wave of funding is expected to be announced in early April, and this will provide larger grants to cover the costs of service transformation and ongoing work to support communities. Further details can be found on the London Community Response website:
